Houston Avocado Company was founded on a dream almost 50 years ago. With just a pickup and a strong work ethic, Alex Flores made that dream come true and grew Houston Avocado to what it is today. Now, it continues to operate as a family-owned business with its focus on quality and unbeatable service. We are a distributor of fresh fruits, vegetables, rice, beans, spices, and now specialty and processed items. We are located just outside of the Farmer’s Market in Houston, Texas. With an impressive modern facility and the ability to store 100+ truckloads of fresh produce, we offer our product to all size and type of customers. We welcome the public to stop by.

As one of the largest distributors of avocados in the United States, selling several truckloads of avocados weekly, we supply a variety of Mexican avocados to the Houston market and its surrounding areas. Be assured that our avocados will be stored and ripened under the best and purest condition. We strive for a quality avocado for all of our customers.

 

Our customer base includes nationally known grocery chains, governmental and educational entities, various sizes of popular and well-known restaurants and also other produce industry businesses. With refrigerated and temperature-monitored delivery trucks, ensuring a well-maintained product, we work 24/7 to reach out and meet our customers’ expectations. Our dedicated sales force and loyal employees are committed to Houston Avocado and the dream and they make us who we are.

Although avocados are a large part of our business, we are also a large supplier of tomatoes, onions, lettuce, cilantro, peppers, rice, beans, leafy vegetables, potatoes, mushrooms, fruits, berries, processed and frozen items, spices, and seasonings.

In 1997 Alex’s son, Mark Flores, came on board after earning his bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Houston. In the years since, Houston Avocado has grown to what it is now. After years of developing relationships with our growers and suppliers, added to our purchasing power, we are able to get the best product at the right price. This allows us to be competitive with our pricing, and our customers grow their business as well, which is one of our goals; establishing mutual growth.
